it's a first post, whoa!

Hey guys,
I am Jacob Young. I enjoy many things: museums, art, music, dogs, comic books and film. I love to laugh and make others laugh too. The first time I knew I wanted to become a teacher was when I was assigned a community service assignment in a Women's Studies course. I had to complete 20 hours with an elementary class during my fourth semester at CSUN. The class had many options of elementary classes to observe and one that I thought would be an interesting observation would be the autistic class. After that semester, I have volunteered my time for autistic research and have been hired at a company that helps elementary and middle school aged autistic children with one on one services. The time I have spent with these children has shown me that children and young adult with mental and social disabilities should be especially worked with and helped. Although special needs children need more effort and time, I recently found out that special education teachers are needed quite a bit
I hope that with my help, guidance, and teaching the students both with and without disabilities will be affected in a positive way. In a way, this is also a concern I have. I do not know if my help and guidance can be seen as influential or important. But I will never know unless I take that step toward teaching to see how the students will actually act to the aspects me and the aspects I am trying to teach them.

Hey there Jacob,

I assume that your family is very proud of you, and you should be for yourself. It is very hard to find people with a kind heart willing to help others without asking for anything back!
You have to be able to trust your abilities, and your guidance will be more than helpfull for those children who arw eager to learn. I am glad you found your path, and even happier that you found something that fulfills your heart and soul.
Good luck!
